Daily field trips require walking or skiing to training site in glaciated backcountry wilderness. 
All participants must be equipped with proper clothing and equipment, as follows:

  • Touring gear (skis / snowboard, boots, skins)
    Split boards with skins are acceptable on all of our courses provided the student has experience on them.

  • Sleeping Bag, suitable for winter camping
  • Waterproof field book (Write in the Rain type)
  • Crampons (summer course only)
  • Insulated jacket or clothing for extended delays in the mountains
  • Guides Pack 35 -55 liters
  • Snow Study Kit
  • First Aid Kit
  • Compass
  • Altimeter
  • 7 Carabiners (4 locking)
  • Tiblocs (2)
  • Reverso
  • Headlamp with extra batteries
  • Goggles, sunglasses and Sunscreen
  • 1 personal prusik (7mm perlon cord, 1.25 m length)
  • 1 rescue rope (7-9 mm, 30m length)

  • Sleeping Pad (closed cell foam or Thermarest type)

  • Adequate clothing for backcountry skiing
  • Casual clothing for classroom lectures
